These are pictures that I took from our hotel room on New Year's Eve. This was probably about mid-snow storm which brought about 6-9" of snow. Yes, it was fun to see it snowing, since I can't remember the last time I saw it snowing. But it was not fun to be stuck in a hotel room all day with nothing to do! I only ventured out in the morning to get my Finagle a Bagel breakfast and discovered that snow in the eyes is not fun!
We had thought about going out to the New Year's Eve festivities. We are right by the Boston Common where they were going to be having First Night 2009. They had ice sculptures and all kinds of fun things to see and do. As it got later and colder, we decided to stay in. When I watched the news later and saw that with the 42mph winds it felt like -15 out, I knew we had made the right choice! They even had to cancel the fireworks due to the wind and it being unsafe. So our New Years was a somewhat quiet (the hotel was full and there was no quiet until well after midnight), and uneventful night. Maybe next year we can make it to Times Square....anyone?
