Happy Halloween

Yesterday was Halloween and my little skeleton seemed to be acting more like a little monster! He had a mini meltdown during the day, but I threw him in the car and we went out to get some starbucks and movies and he finally took his nap. Woo hoo! So, needless to say, we weren't able to get any smiling pictures of the skeleton with his pumpkin, but we got a couple where he wasn't crying =)

We have one with mommy's foot propping him up:

We have one with him propped up on his own before he slid down:
And we have one where he was tired of having his picture taken!

And now at 7:30am, as I write this, he is taking a nap. That's what happens when you wake up at 5am when the time changes!

The Pumpkin Patch

Today we headed out to find the perfect pumpkin! But it wasn't as easy at it may seem. I told Nathan that we had to go to the pumpking patch and his response was "As long as we get back before football starts..." So I looked online and found one nearby and we loaded up Thomas and hit the road. On our way there we drove by the river and I told Nathan that it would pretty to take some pictures there with all the colorful trees. I had been wanting to take some "nature" pictures and hadn't had a chance to yet. But I knew that we wouldn't be stopping, as we were on a mission. Once we got to the pumpkin patch, we discovered that it didn't open until 11am and we were an hour early. So now what? I was very disappointed and hungry and had run out of coffee. And the last thing I wanted to do was drive around for an hour waiting for this place to open, but I wasn't going to be happy if we didn't get Thomas a pumpkin. So to try and please his cranky wife, Nathan suggested we go back to the river and take some pictures. We walked around for a few minutes and I took my pictures and then we headed back to the patch to get our pumpkin.

Apparently, Nathan had never been to a pumpkin patch before. At least that's what he said. I found that to be crazy since we always went to the pumpkin patch as kids! So it was a new experience for Thomas and Daddy. I must admit, I was a little disappointed in this patch. I guess I was spoiled as a kid. But we walked around and took some pictures of Thomas on pumpkins, picked one out to take home and met some goats. Of course we had to take Thomas over to see the goats since he will be seeing them at Grammy B and Papa Wayne's house soon. Thomas was very excited about his pumpkin as you can see in the picture below!

We Have a Roller!

Yes, this morning Thomas rolled over! I had been working on going from belly to back with him for a while now, but the other day I looked over and he was trying to go from his back to his belly and he was getting really close. So I thought that he might be an oddball and decide to roll that way first. Yesterday we went to the store and got a foam play mat that is almost an inch thick to put down on the floor so that when he started rolling over and moving around he wouldn't bang his head against the hardwood floors. After grabbing a cup of coffee, I decided that Thomas should lay on his mat because how was he going to learn to roll over if I didn't give him his tummy time? So I laid him tummy down on the mat and he looked so cute that I had to grab the camera to take some pictures, and right when I turned back around he rolled right over onto his back! I nearly missed it, but luckily he decided to wait for me. Either that, or he saw me going for the camera and thought, I need to get out of here! I was very excited for him and tried to get him to do it again so I could record a video to send to Daddy, but he wasn't having any of it. I guess we will have to wait until later and try again. Here are my pictures from right after the amazing accomplishment!

My Little Chunky Monkey

As of yesterday, Thomas is 14lbs 2oz. A happy and healthy little guy says the Dr. And I am apparently the neighbor that other moms are jealous of, since he has started sleeping about 8 hours straight at night before needing to refuel. When I go in to get him, he has somehow managed to manuver himself sideways and all the way against the opposite side of the crib. How he does this while being swaddled and having his feet in his new sleep bag, I will never know (unless I sit and watch the monitor all night, but I think I'd rather sleep). His new discovery is that he can grab things. He grabs his cow, his keys, my hair, my clothes and whatever else he can get his hands on. Here are some new pictures for you and stayed tuned for a video!

Thomas also got to see his first snowflakes fall twice in the last week, but nothing stuck so he hasn't been able to go play in it yet.

How To Get the Bed You Want by Kiyah

What do you do if someone if laying on the bed that you want? It's pretty easy to get them to move. I do it to Sadie anytime I want to lay on the bed she is on. We have two beds and they are almost identical to each other, but sometimes I just want the one she is on, so here's what I do:

1.) I sit on top of Sadie in a position that is comfortable for me, but I can imagine that it's not so comfortable for her, and I wait.
2.) It usually doesn't take too long before she decides that admitting defeat and moving to the other bed will be much more comfortable than continuing to have me sitting on her.
3.) Then I get to enjoy the bed I want all to myself!

Mr. Happy Feet

So what has been happening in the wonderful world of Thomas this week you ask. Well, he has discovered the wonderful world of the jumper, laughed at the dogs and learned how to fly!
Because Thomas tends to have "happy feet" all the time, I thought that a jumper might be something he would enjoy. Alas, the $5 buy off craigslist was worth every penny! He has taken to it quite well, even though he is still a little small for it. I'm sure the bigger he gets the more he will like sitting in his jumper and bouncing around.
Yesterday, as we chased the dogs down from perusing the neighborhood, I had their ball in one hand and Thomas in the other. As I bribed Sadie to come back to the house by showing her the ball, she began to jump up in utter excitement and joy at the sight of it (those of you who have enjoyed the experience of Sadie and the ball know exactly what I am talking about). Thomas looked at her doing this and started to giggle, a lot! It was the first time that it sounded to me like he was actually laughing. Everytime she jumped up he started to giggle. Even this morning as they were horsing around, he looked at them and giggled. So I guess our dogs are hilarious, at least to one little guy.
This morning Thomas also learned how to fly, courtesy of his father. When all else fails, lift the fussy baby into the air.
Of course, after a minute or two of doing this, Thomas developed multiple balls of drool on his chin. We were able to capture one such shot of the drool hanging off of his chin. What makes this shot so funny is that every so often Kiyah does the exact same thing, has a drool hanging from her mouth. We're just waiting for the day when we can snap a picture of the two of them together, both with drool hanging off their chins!
Now, I have to give Nathan credit, most of the time when he dresses Thomas he does a pretty good job when it comes to coordinating an outfit. But other times we end up with something like the picture below. He's got his 49ers onesie on with a pair of red pants. Yes it matches, however what you can't see from the picture is that the pants are for an 18 month old and have slipped down to his ankles a few times already. And then when I asked him to grab some socks, he pulled out the pair with elephants on the toes. So alas, we have Thomas in his niners outfit with too big pants and elephant socks. I couldn't help but laugh to myself.
